ICT Business Park

Technopolis ICT Business Park is the first High Technology Business Park in Greece where companies from the new economy, research activities, and educational ventures can establish themselves, in an environment of outstanding quality. It is one of the key development tools promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in Northern Greece.

Technopolis began as a vision — a private initiative by IT entrepreneurs in 2001 who saw the need for the sector's outward expansion and wanted to offer the next generation and Northern Greece unique development prospects. It started with shareholders from the Association of Information Technology Companies of Northern Greece (SEPVE), along with major ICT and High Technology companies from across Greece, and public bodies.

The company’s goal was to establish Greece’s first High Technology Business Park, addressing sector challenges (like housing needs), promoting synergies, offering modern infrastructure, and providing investment opportunities, creating a development hub both for Thessaloniki and for the country as a whole.

Technopolis Thessaloniki is located within the designated Alexandria Innovation Zone and is a strong part of Thessaloniki’s innovation ecosystem. It is the fastest-growing area of the city and has already evolved into a hub of technology and innovation. Nearby are major institutions such as the National Centre for Research and Technological Development (CERTH), the Technology Museum, and CEDEFOP. There are also commercial and entertainment centers, hotels, medical centers, and educational institutions nearby.

The company’s initial objective was achieved with the official launch of Technopolis Thessaloniki, the first High Technology Business Park in Greece, the result of an investment exceeding €12.5 million. Currently, there are 4 building complexes, and by 2025, 3 new office buildings will be completed, utilizing the unique incentives offered by the park.

It includes an area of 94 stremmas (approximately 23 acres) on the eastern side of the city, the fastest-growing area of Thessaloniki, and falls under the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Pylea–Hortiatis. It is located just a few kilometers from Thessaloniki International Airport, and the site’s slight southwest slope ensures spectacular views of the Thermaic Gulf from all buildings.

Technopolis started as a vision for an innovative solution for housing IT and technology companies and has become one of the most important tools for promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in Northern Greece.

• The major technology parks in Europe and elsewhere, often developing a "tech village" identity, act as hubs for competitiveness growth. Their establishment is often an initiative of local public authorities and supported as part of national strategies. Many were initiated by universities and host incubators for new businesses.
• Technology parks offer state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure and a full range of complementary services. They engage in model activities for new technologies, demonstration projects, executive training, and technology dissemination.
• They are ideal places for attracting local and international investments and actively promote themselves domestically and internationally through organized promotional activities. For this reason, half the park's area belongs to the American Farm School, intended primarily to serve international flagship investments.

At full development, Technopolis Thessaloniki is expected to host more than 200 innovative companies with over 4,000 employees.
