History

Technopolis Thessaloniki S.A. is founded, initiated by the Association of IT Companies of Northern Greece (SEPVE), with participation from major IT companies and public institutions.

In collaboration with an international real estate firm, Technopolis evaluates over 20 plots around suburban Thessaloniki, selecting a 100-stremma plot near the American Farm School in the Municipality of Pylea.

An agreement is signed with the American Farm School for the purchase of ~100 stremmas.

A dossier is submitted to the Ministry of Development for the issuance of a Joint Ministerial Decision to define Technopolis Thessaloniki.

Technopolis Thessaloniki is formally recognized as an Industrial Area of Business Activities (VEPE) under Greek Law 2545/97, with approved Environmental Impact Studies.

The Technical Services responsibilities are assigned to BIPETVA S.A., an experienced infrastructure company.

The Thessaloniki Regulatory Authority and Thessaloniki Prefecture give unanimous positive opinions on the project.

Signing of a contract with the designers for the preparation of the Urban Planning Study and the Layout Plan within the boundaries of the Technopolis Thessaloniki Urban Development Area.

The Infrastructure Project Design Contract is signed, which includes the Road Construction, Water Supply, Sewage and Stormwater Drainage networks, and Electromechanical installations.

The decision approving the financing of the investment plan and determining the subsidy rate for the development project of TECHNOPOLIS (VEPE) THESSALONIKI is issued on 21/7/2005 by the Ministry of Development, General Secretariat of Industry.

In November 2005, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with the Municipality of Pylaia, which recognized the importance of the construction and operation of the first Technopolis in Greece within the boundaries of the Municipality.

Urban Planning and Street Plan Approved by the General Secretary of the Region of Central Macedonia.

The preparation of the final studies of the infrastructure projects, which include the Road Construction, Water Supply - Sewerage and Stormwater networks and Electromechanical installations, has been completed.

The final purchase contract for the plots of land is signed by Technopolis Thessaloniki SA with the American Agricultural School

Infrastructure Works Construction Contract Signed with ETEΘ S.A. (a J&P-AVAX group company), beginning the works.

On July 12, 2007, the foundation ceremony of Technopolis Thessaloniki takes place in the presence of the Minister of Development.

Land Transfers Begin for shareholder companies to establish operations in the Park.

Building Permit Application Submitted for the Incubator building

Memorandum of Cooperation Signed with EYATH S.A. (Thessaloniki Water Supply and Sewerage Company).

The building permit for the new Incubator building was issued, and construction began within Technopolis.

The construction of infrastructure works for Greece’s first High Technology Business Park was completed, and the inauguration ceremony was held.

A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the National Centre for Research and Technological Development (CERTH) and Technopolis Thessaloniki S.A. concerning technology-related matters.

The President of PASOK, Mr. George Papandreou, paid an official visit to Technopolis Thessaloniki and was briefed on the project's progress and prospects.

A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Municipality of Trikala and Technopolis Thessaloniki S.A. regarding technology and joint initiatives.

The Ministry of Development issued the attesting decision provided for by Law 2545/97, officially starting the Park's operation as an Industrial Area (B.E.PE.).

The construction of the new Incubator building within Technopolis was completed, and all companies were relocated to it.

A contract was signed for the utilization of 7 stremma (approx. 7,000 m²) within Technopolis with Stefanos S.A. for the construction of the Business Innovation Center of Technopolis, which will house the Park’s shared services.

A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Alexandria Innovation Zone and Technopolis Thessaloniki S.A.

As part of supporting the international outreach of Technopolis companies, an event was held with a delegation from the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

As part of developing collaboration among Technopolis shareholders, a proposal was submitted for the creation of an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Cluster under a corresponding program of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT).
